For some inexplicable reason, no matter how many times I read about the differences between Sunnis and Shiites, that knowledge always seems to disappear after a while. I wonder if this is my own personal fault for not keeping up on Middle Eastern politics or if there are larger social forces at work that thrive off of the repression of this knowledge.
